Massal Selection is an online platform selling artisanal wines to private customers, as well as an importer and distributor supplying restaurants, wine bars and specialist retailers.
Every wine in our portfolio has been selected according to the expertise of Álvaro Ribalta MW, one of only five Spanish Masters of Wine and the only one working in wine distribution in Spain. Álvaro brings extensive international experience and a highly respected palate. Follow his recommendations and you are in expert hands.
At Massal Selection, we work on the belief that variety is the spice of life. Just as in a Massal Selection, heterogeneity leads to greater complexity.
The wines featured on our platform come from producers who, above all, strive to express the place and terroir their grapes come from. We believe in respect for the environment and in minimal, yet sufficient, intervention so that each wine can show its full potential. That said, we are not dogmatic. Just as we may offer natural wines with no added sulphites, there is also room for wines with a thoroughly “classic” profile, as well as the full spectrum of styles in between. It just so happens that the wines we are most often drawn to are made by people who work their own vineyards, seek a clear sense of place and treat their raw material with complete respect.

Sustainability will always be at the heart of every decision we make. We are not perfect, and artisanal wine remains a non-essential luxury product. However, we believe in transparent communication and open dialogue, working together to help protect the planet. There is still time.
We firmly believe that every link in the supply chain should receive a fair minimum price, starting with the grower. It is the only way to build a sustainable industry that can endure over time. For this reason, we believe artisanal wine should have a minimum retail price, below which that principle can no longer be upheld. At Massal Selection, we believe that threshold should be €7 per bottle, which is why this is the lowest price you will find on our online platform.
Álvaro Ribalta MW
The public face of Massal Selection is Álvaro Ribalta, one of just 420 brave souls worldwide, and only five in Spain, to have earned the title of Master of Wine, the most prestigious qualification in the wine world.
His passion for wine was forged during the 15 years he spent living in London, working across different areas of the wine trade, from hospitality to distribution.
In 2021, he earned the prestigious Master of Wine title and was also awarded the Bollinger Medal, the coveted prize for the best taster in his graduating class.
Since returning to Spain, Álvaro has continued to learn, seizing every opportunity to discover an emerging region or a new producer worthy of recognition and to introduce them to his clients and followers.
